To celebrate the 250th anniversary of the Town of Dunbarton, the Conservation Commission is leading a hike each month during 2015 to one of the 13 Wonders of Dunbarton. Those who visit all 13 Wonders will be issued a special, limited edition 250th Anniversary Natural Wonder certificate!
On Saturday, January 17th we'll start the series with a hike in the Bela Brook Conservation Area, Dunbarton's newest conservation property. We'll hike about 1.3 miles, and look for signs of wildlife, and see what is believed to be the historic cellar hole of Scipio Page's home and the unusual sluiceway, cellar hole and mill pond for what once was Evan's Mill.
Meet at the trail head on Grapevine Road at 10 AM. We suggest parking just south of the trail head on Zachary Drive, there's more room there. Dress for the weather.
Information on the Bela Brook Conservation Area may be found here. Questions? Contact hike leader Margaret Watkins at margwatkins@juno.com or 774-7120.
